What it’s in

Rewind (2.5%)

DMAE is a powerful skin-firming ingredient. In one study, participants using a facial gel with 3% DMAE for 16 weeks saw significant reductions in forehead lines and fine wrinkles. Surprisingly, those reductions didn’t go away even 2 weeks after participants stopped using the gel, indicating that it was not a temporarily plumping effect.

DMAE’s mechanism of action is on the dermis, the middle layer of our skin. The dermis provides the scaffolding of the skin, and is generally responsible for the look of aging skin as our collagen starts to break down. In a study on human skin, DMAE-treated skin had increased dermal thickness as well as collagen fiber thickness compared to the control.

Our vitamin-rich serum Rewind uses 2.5% of the bitartrate salt of DMAE, a gentle form of DMAE that has a pH of around 6-7.

DMAE is a gentle and non-irritating addition to your skincare routine. It works well in tandem with other firming and plumping ingredients, such as glycerin and hyaluronic acid.
