Cetearyl Olivate
AT A GLANCE
Cetearyl Olivate
Emulsifier made from combining cetearyl alcohol with the fatty acids of olive oil.
Type of Ingredient
Thickener
Why we use it
When combined with sorbitan olivate, cetearyl olivate creates a silky emulsifier that holds the ingredients together in Interface. It’s why we can use oil-based ingredients like squalane as well as water-based ingredients like licorice root extract, without having them separate out. It’s also a major player in Interface’s smooth gel-cream texture.
